Hanna Sanders ~ 5 Years of Service!

Please join us in congratulating Hanna Sanders for 5 years of service at ADM! 

Hanna serves ADM as an Elementary School Counselor for grades 2-4 at Meadow View Elementary School.  She was born and raised in Wellman, IA.  Hanna received her BA in Elementary Education and Middle School Social Studies and Language Arts from Central College.  She later received her MS in School Counseling & Preventative Mental Health from Creighton University. 

Prior to ADM, Hanna worked for West Central Valley for seven years as a middle school Language Arts teacher and then as a School Counselor.  This school year is Hanna’s 13th year in education.  Both of Hanna’s parents were teachers and Hanna initially believed she wanted to follow in their footsteps.  She decided to become a counselor because she quickly learned that many of her students couldn't access learning at their highest potential because of the things they were facing in their home lives, and she wanted to be someone who could help bridge that gap for them.  

She chose ADM because she wanted to be able to work where her kids went to school, and she also wanted to be in a district that challenged her while also being supportive and structured.  She stays at ADM because of the people and the opportunities for growth and improvement.  Regarding this, she shares, “The people I get to see everyday, as colleagues and students, make every day amazing.  I also am challenged and constantly growing in my field, and that is a big bonus for me.”  

Being able to sit with students who are experiencing their worst moments, and being with them through it so they reach the other side and see success is what Hanna loves most about her role.  She also really enjoys helping teachers feel capable and equipped to support students in their classroom through brain based and trauma informed strategies.

Outside of school, Hanna loves to read, thrift, create, and travel.
