ADM follows the Iowa Public Health Department’s guidelines for exclusion and return criteria from the school setting. Please refer to the following document that outlines identified childhood illnesses to learn more about exclusion and return policies. Please reach out to your building nurse with any additional questions.

Iowa Public Health  Child Illnesses and Exclusion Criteria

Did you know that all children attending school in Iowa must have a current and valid immunization record?

Immunizations must include doses of Tdap, Polio, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, and Varicella. In the State of Iowa, a current and valid immunization record must be on file before the first day of school. ADM will enforce the measure that a student may be excluded from school until their file shows compliance with Iowa Immunization Law.

Documentation of a valid certificate of immunization exemption (religious or medical) or provisional certificate of immunization may be submitted in lieu of a certificate of immunization. Requirements for valid exemptions may be found in Iowa Code 139A.8 and Iowa Administrative Code 641-7. If an exemption form is needed, contact a medical provider or the school nurse.
