October Parent and Family Update

10/14/25

Autumn is flying by and the holiday season is just around the corner. We have settled into the rhythm of the academic year, with a strong focus on our “wildly important” literacy goal. Our ADM team continues to demonstrate a strong pursuit of excellence and the will to meet our mission of high levels of learning for all.

We aim to embody humility, hunger, and emotional intelligence in all our efforts, and I witness these qualities shining through across our district daily. We look forward to welcoming you to Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 21 and 23, where our teachers and students are excited to share insights into the progress and learning achieved so far this year!

2025 Iowa School Performance Profiles (ISPP)

Each year, the Iowa Department of Education updates new results to an online school accountability reporting system called the Iowa School Performance Profiles (ISPP). The Iowa School Performance Profiles launched in 2018 and serves as a public report for all public schools.

The ISPP report generates an overall score and rating for each building in each school district. The score is determined by multiple measures that include district and building performance in areas such as chronic absenteeism, student academic growth, student academic proficiency, graduation rate, postsecondary readiness, and more. Below are ADM’s scores since the start of the ISPP in 2018.
A table displays performance data across multiple years and categories, with color-coded results.
Highlights from the 2025 ISPP
  • Out of 329 school districts in Iowa, ADM appears to be one of only 12 K-12 school districts that had ALL BUILDINGS in the district score High Performing or Above! Furthermore, of the 12 districts that accomplished this level of performance, only one other district serves more than 2,000 and was of comparable size to ADM! The other 10 districts average just over 600 students K-12.
  • ADM High School: 8th highest overall HS in Iowa & 3rd highest ELA score in Iowa! (Out of over 330)
  • ADM Middle School: 16th highest overall MS in Iowa & 4th highest ELA score in Iowa! (Out of over 250)
  • DeSoto Intermediate: 45th highest overall elem. in Iowa & 30th highest ELA score! (Out of over 600)
  • Meadow View Elementary: 65th highest overall elem. in Iowa & 87th highest ELA score! (Out of over 600)

Focusing On The Wildly Important

ADM is in year five of our “radical reset” related to how we use data, make instructional decisions, and focus on results. The district’s Wildly Important Goal (WIG) is to decrease the % of PS-11 students scoring “Not Yet Proficient” in reading/ELA  from 12% to 10% by June 1, 2026. The table below captures building WIGs for the 2025-26 school year. If each building meets their WIG, ADM will meet the district WIG.
