Student Conduct & Discipline

ADM Board Policy outlines expectations for student conduct, discipline in the school environment and how the district will meet Iowa code pertaining to student conduct, discipline, required classroom removals, parent meetings, communication and other legal requirements. 

ADM uses a progressive discipline scale to identify the minimum consequence that students can expect in response to inappropriate behavior. Below are four important reminders about ADM’s approach to student conduct and discipline.

1. ADM teachers and staff are expected to maintain a safe, orderly and disciplined environment AND to protect the rights and dignity of others.

2. Students are responsible for their actions and will be held accountable for inappropriate conduct in a manner fitting to their age level and maturity.

3. Administrators may choose a higher level of consequence that what is outlined in the progressive discipline scale based on the specifics and severity of the infraction. 

4. Repeated infractions for similar behavior may increase the level of consequence assigned.
