Doug Winkowitsch Named As New Head Football Coach For ADM
ADM is excited to announce that Doug Winkowitsch has accepted the position of Head Football Coach at ADM pending board approval.
Coach Winkowitsch has been one of the top coaches in the state of Iowa for the past 29 years, with the last 20 being at West Delaware High School. Coach Winkowitsch has posted a record of 157-58 at West Delaware with 15 playoff appearances. During his tenure at West Delaware, Coach Winkowitsch’s teams finished 2nd (2005), as semifinalist twice in 2015 and 2010 and quarterfinalists six times. He currently stands at 196 career wins which ranks him 14th among current Iowa High School Football coaches. Coach Winkowitsch was named Class 3A coach of the year in 2010 and has been named district coach of the year 10 times.
Doug graduated from Westmar College in 1994 with K-12 Physical Education and Biology degrees, plus a minor in Psychology. While at Westmar he was a 4 year starter on the football team. He furthered his education by receiving a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Wayne State College and an Administration degree from Buena Vista University.
Doug and his wife Kara have 6 children – Jack (29) wife Jessica, Trent (27) wife Jenna, Kyle (26), Miah (22), Aleah (20), and Ren (18). Their children all live near Adel and were a factor in the decision making process. Doug is a native of Allison, Iowa, while Kara is from Rockwell, IA. Doug and Kara have lived in Manchester since 2004.
When asked about his new role as head Football Coach at ADM, Coach Winkowitsch stated, “I am honored to be the next head football coach at ADM. When making major decisions like this you must account for many factors. I am leaving an incredible community, situation, and football team, however, all the boxes were checked for myself and my family to make this move to Adel. I am blessed to have been given this opportunity. I know how important this role is to the ADM communities. I will do my best to build quality relationships, develop young men, and be a great example.
