Fall Honor Bands at the Middle School
Middle school band students have recently participated in two honor bands recognizing fantastic musicians at the middle school. On Thursday, Oct. 12 seven students participated in the Central College Middle School Band Fest Honor Band in Pella. Ellie Longman (flute), Cordy Piepmeier (alto saxophone), Braylon Whipps (trumpet), Liam Freeman (trombone), Langston Wilkins (trombone), and Jaxton Hook (baritone) were selected by director nomination and represented ADM Middle School. They performed an amazing concert that evening after a great day of collaborating with peers and directors from Central College.
More recently, four eighth graders were selected, through an audition process, to participate in the SCIBA (South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association) honor band at Ankeny Centennial High School. These eighth graders auditioned with many other eighth graders from central Iowa to be a part of this honor band. Selected eighth graders were Kayla Van (alto saxophone), Owen Horgen (trumpet), Amanda Gustafson (clarinet), and Cade Huskey (flute). Five seventh graders were also selected, by director nomination, to participate in this honor band; Brynn Schneider (trombone), Ellie Longman (flute), Blake Johnston (trumpet), Chase Cline (tuba), and Clara Uthe (clarinet).
At the SCIBA honor band audition, eighth grade students were also auditioning for the All-Iowa 8th Grade Honor Band to be held at the Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference in May. We are excited to share that student, Owen Horgen, was also selected for this event! He is one of two trumpet players from the south central district to be selected for this prestigious honor. Congratulations to Owen and all the other amazing musicians at ADM Middle School!
