Four of our 8th grade GATE students were selected to create an experiment that will be put on a NASA high altitude balloon as part of the NASA TechRise competition. Our team’s proposed experiment was chosen to be one of sixty experiments made by students across the country in grades six through twelve. Their experiment will test radiation mitigation strategies, which could potentially benefit human space travel where harmful radiation is much higher. The students will now begin working on building their experiment with help from weekly virtual meetings with a NASA engineering mentor. We are very excited for this learning opportunity for our students and we know they will RISE to the challenge.
