The DeSoto Intermediate Student Council initiated a Food Drive in honor of Giving Tuesday. The Food Drive took place from Tuesday, November 29th, to Tuesday, December 6th. Students were encouraged to bring in non-perishable items as a way to give back to our community. While students were driven by the desire to give to others this holiday season, students also had a chance at a grand prize of a dodgeball tournament and bragging rights! As student council members counted up items to determine the winners of each grade level, they were blown away by the incredible amount of donations. On Friday, December 9th, nearly 3,000 items, coming in at a total weight of 2,305 pounds (just over a TON!), were delivered to the Adel Food Pantry. As Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
