Winter weather is upon us and with winter comes questions about communication related to late starts, early outs, and school closure. Please take a moment to review the following information about ADM’s winter communications as well as ADM’s Hard Surface Bus Route Plan.
How Are Closing and Delay Decisions Made?
School may be closed, delayed, or dismissed early due to inclement weather or other emergency situations. Decisions to cancel school are not taken lightly, and any changes to our regular schedule are made by the superintendent after consultation with the director of transportation and other related personnel. ADM’s number one priority is ensuring the safety of all students. A decision to close or delay school will normally be made no later than 5:30 AM.
How Are Parents Notified?
ADM uses the SchoolMessenger alert system to directly notify parents of weather and emergency related delay, dismissal, or cancellation decisions. Parents are notified by email, phone, and text message. Messages are also sent to area television stations and displayed on the school website.

Hard Surface Bus Route Plan:
The ADM Community School District has developed an emergency hard surface route plan. The purpose of this plan is to provide a bus transportation system on days when it is not possible to run the buses on gravel roads. In situations such as drifted or icy country gravel roads, or soft surface gravel roads, this plan will be implemented. When implemented, an announcement of the Emergency Hard Surface Route plan will be made via the district messenger system.
What Contact Information is Used for SchoolMessenger Notifications?
The ADM SchoolMessenger alert system uses contact information entered by parents and guardians into the Infinite Campus Student Information System. To update contact information in Infinite Campus, log in to the Infinite Campus Portal or contact your building office.
If you are not receiving text message notifications of closings or delays, it is possible that you did not opt-in to receive text messages during online registration in Infinite Campus. To opt-in, simply text the word “Subscribe” to 68453, using a cell phone that you have registered in Infinite Campus. Please contact ADM’s Student Data Coordinator, Kendra Wolf, with any additional questions.
