Recently, the seventh grade GATE students participated in a bridge building STEM challenge hosted by the Iowa Department of Transportation at the Science Center of Iowa. The students had two and a half hours to design a bridge using provided materials (popsicle sticks, dowels, hot glue, string, masking tape) that was structurally efficient, innovative in design, and cost-effective. Awards were given for structural efficiency, innovation, and teamwork. Our very own Caroline Book, Amanda Gustafson, Aubrey Noring, and Ella Subbert won the teamwork award!
