Please join us in congratulating Amy Hemphill for 10 years of consecutive service at ADM! Amy is currently in her second year as principal at DeSoto Intermediate after serving as assistant principal at Adel Elementary and DeSoto Intermediate.

Amy was born and raised in Quincy, Illinois. She received undergraduate degrees from Augustana and Quincy University, Master’s Degrees from Baker and Viterbo, and a doctorate from Drake. Amy taught for six years in Missouri before coming to ADM to teach. Prior to being named principal of DeSoto Intermediate, Amy was an assistant principal at Adel Elementary and DeSoto Intermediate.

When asked why she chose ADM, Amy said, “My husband is an alumnus of ADM and born and raised in Adel. When moving to Iowa, I was extremely hopeful that I would be able to join this amazing district. I couldn’t feel more fortunate to work at ADM and DeSoto Intermediate. ADM’s staff has an unwavering commitment to not only student achievement, but also students’ well-being as a whole. I treasure the students, staff and families with whom I get to work on a regular basis, and there is no place I would rather be.”

Amy loves her current role as principal at DI – “I love so many aspects of my role, but if I had to choose one, it would be the privilege to interact with and positively impact students on a daily basis.”

Amy loves to read, garden, do crossword puzzles, travel and spend time with family and friends when she is not at DeSoto Intermediate.

Please help us thank Amy for her support and service to the ADM community.
