Adel Elementary students have been learning about rights and responsibilities in social studies by determining procedures to arrive at fair decisions and comparing and contrasting rules from different places. In this unit, kindergarteners also identified what it means to be a citizen, analyzed rules and laws, and defined responsibility. As a culminating activity, students voted on which cookie would be selected for a special class treat, allowing AE kindergarteners to learn first hand about how citizens make decisions in a meaningful way.
