Free Meals For Enrolled ADM Students Extended Through End Of 2020-21 School Year |
ADM Families, What: Due to an extension of the current federal free meal plan all currently enrolled Adel DeSoto Minburn School District students will continue to be able to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost to them through the end of the 2020-21 school year. This will apply to all ADM students, whether learning fully onsite or fully remote.
Why: U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will now extend several flexibilities through the end of June 2021. The flexibilities allow summer meal program operators to continue serving free meals to all children for the rest of the year. Details: All families are encouraged to take advantage of and participate in breakfast and lunch this year. Meals will be provided at no cost to the family. Families do not need to enroll or take any action, as meals will simply be free through the end of the school year. This opportunity gives every family the chance to feel a sense of financial relief while also having the security of their student(s) being fed. Please Note: All extra purchases like; Snack Milk, A La Carte, & Extras will still be available to students but must be purchased through the Student’s meal account. Current lunch status benefits will not apply to any extras and students must have a positive balance to purchase them. This will also apply to those who have elected to do virtual learning.
Meal Account Notices: Meal account notices, regardless of the newly extended benefits, will continue to be sent home weekly depending on the student account balance. Please contact me at 515-993-3431 or jbrand@admschools.org if you have any questions or concerns with your student(s) meal account. Sincerely, Jason Brand School Nutrition Director |
