Dear DeSoto Intermediate Families,

The elementary buildings are collaboratively working together to share a plan that will allow you to collect student personal items from the building your child attended due to the extended closure for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year.  Student belongings will be available to be picked up on Tuesday, May 12th during two time frames at DeSoto Intermediate:

  • May 12th from 10:00 am – noon

  • May 12th from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Items will be available using a drive up system.  For safety, we ask that people remain in their vehicles throughout the process.

  • Students with the last names of A-K will enter the bus turn around

  • Students with the last names L-Z will enter the main entrance and proceed to the new wing at the back of the building.  We will be loading materials from the north door.

We will have belongings ready and alphabetized inside the school to deliver to your vehicle.  Staff members will be present to get the names of your children at DeSoto Intermediate, retrieve your items from inside the building and deliver it to the sidewalk next to your car.  To help speed this process along, we are asking families to hold up a paper at the passenger window that has the last name of the child(ren) to support bringing those materials to your car.

If you have library or classroom books to return, please have those items ready to place on a cart ahead of the bag delivery area.  Each child left for spring break with three books from their classrooms.  If you could write the teacher name on the inside cover when returning these books that would be helpful.

The school nurse will be on-site during both timeframes. If you need to get student medication, please park in the visitor parking spots as the nurse will be available at the front entrance.

Thank you in advance for your patience with this new process. Our goal is to ensure a safe way for families to pick up student belongings. If you notice something has been received that doesn’t belong to your child or is missing from your child’s bag, please email the classroom teacher.
