The 5th Annual Tigers in Training event took place at Adel Elementary, Friday, September 27, 2019. The event raised nearly $10,000 for a long-term and short-term project at the school. The majority of funds raised will go toward a long-term goal of installing a walking trail around the perimeter of Adel Elementary’s playground. However, Adel Elementary will also use a portion of the funds to install a new inclusive piece of playground equipment called an Orb Rocker. The Orb Rocker is anticipated to be installed this spring for Adel Elementary students to enjoy this school year and for years to come.

Adel Elementary students, staff, and parents had planned to participate in a one-mile walk or run to promote a healthy, active lifestyle and to enjoy time with one another. Due to rain, the event was moved indoors. Instead of the one-mile walk or run, the students, staff, and parents gathered in the gymnasium to celebrate school spirit with members of the ADM High School Band and the ADM High School Cheerleaders. Participants also enjoyed dancing to several songs to promote a healthy and active lifestyle, and to enjoy time with family and friends.

When asked about the event, ADM Principal Kim Anderson stated, “Tigers in Training is a day that students, staff, and families look forward to every year. We love the opportunity to participate in an event that values exercise and community while raising money for a wonderful cause.” In all, it is estimated that over 1,000 students, staff, and family members participated in the 5th annual Tigers in Training. ADM Schools would like to thank Adel Fareway and Pepperidge Farm for donating water and snacks, the volunteers that supported the event behind the scenes, and the community for their donations and participation in this special event.
