Learning doesn’t just happen with the students at ADM Middle School, it also has to happen for the teachers! This week Sarah Knute (Instructional coach and Literacy teacher), Ann Heitz (District Instructional coach), and Kim Timmerman (Principal) attended a two-day conference by the Decoding Dyslexia of Iowa Organization.

Much learning occurred related to supporting students diagnosed with dyslexia and struggling readers and writers.  Topics at the conference included the importance of emphasizing social-emotional learning, understanding the neuroscience behind dyslexia, and technology tools to assist learning.  The ADM team attending the conference walked away with ideas that could be incorporated right away with students and “tools in their pockets” to support all adolescent learners.  Further conversations and reflections were immediately shared with other staff members to continue the learning back at ADM Middle School.  The ADM Middle School values learning for ALL!
