The Science Center of Iowa joined DeSoto Intermediate for an in-school field trip. The program titled “Simply Electrifying” connected to the 5th grade electricity science unit. Students explored the world of electricity through several hands- on demonstrations from the Science Center presenter. Topics included using a Van de Graaff generator, electrons and atoms, and how electricity travels. Seeing fellow classmates and having staff pulled on stage to be “test subjects” with static and electricity were definite highlights! Thanks to the Science Center for providing this free outreach experience to our 5th graders!
