On Tuesday, September 27th, a small group of middle school students had the tremendous opportunity to attend a Career Discovery Day at DMACC in Ankeny. The purpose of this trip was to introduce students to a variety of post-secondary areas of study and potential career paths. Additionally, the trip encouraged students to think about what electives they would like to take in high school and how to structure their high school coursework to get where they want to go!

After learning a great deal about DMACC as a college and being fed lunch, students were able to select two areas to explore for the rest of the afternoon. The options available were: CADD, Chemistry, Math, Nursing, and Auto Engineering. Students returned with some great stories about engaging activities; from 3D printing and laser cutting to building circuits and studying wattage.
