The 5th Grade Wax Museum project that took place earlier this month was a tremendous success, showcasing the hard work, creativity, and confidence of our students. Each learner selected a significant historical figure, conducted in-depth research, and transformed into that person for the event—complete with costumes, props, and memorized speeches. DeSoto Intermediate was transformed into a living museum, and visitors were invited to “press a button” and watch each student bring history to life through a first-person speech. From scientists and civil rights leaders to presidents and inventors, the range of figures highlighted the diverse contributions that have shaped our world.
The event drew a massive turnout from families and community members, creating a powerful and engaging learning experience for everyone involved. Parents expressed pride and amazement at their children’s poise and knowledge, and students beamed with confidence as they shared their work. The overwhelming support and attendance demonstrated just how invested our community is in student success. The Wax Museum not only celebrated academic achievement but also built important skills in public speaking, research, and personal responsibility. It was a day to remember—for students, staff, and families alike.
