DeSoto Intermediate fifth graders experienced an action-packed day filled with hands-on learning at JA BizTown this week.
JA BizTown is a fun, hands-on program where students get to run a mini-town for a day. On this field trip, students are able to take on different jobs as business owners, bankers, or even the mayor. Through these jobs students learn how a community works together to keep everything running smoothly. Along the way, they figure out how to manage money, work as a team, and make decisions. From earning paychecks and budgeting their money to solving problems and providing services, students get a taste of how the real world works.
It’s an exciting and interactive way for kids to build confidence, learn responsibility, and discover the value of working together. While at Junior Achievement BizTown students can also spend their hard-earned paycheck on items to take home with them such as sunglasses, popcorn, and more!
