Fifth and sixth grade students in the Accelerating Artists Program have been busy learning about sculptures from the Pappajohn Sculpture Park. Last week they were able to go on a field trip to see these sculptures in person. They also went to the Art Center for their “Creative Days” program. During this program students took a tour of the art museum, learned about art in other forms, such as dance, and they got an opportunity to create their own collage art after reflecting on what they had experienced during their field trip that day.
Miss J loved getting to watch these artists’ creativity flourish through questions, decision making, and hands-on learning. Thank you to the Des Moines Art Center for hosting our artists for the day.
