Fall Honor Bands at the Middle School
On Thursday, October 10th, four middle school band students participated in the Central College Middle School BandFest honor band in Pella. The selected seventh graders were Nico Seifert on percussion and Scarlett Drinkall on French horn. Eighth graders selected were Bridget Maddy, trumpet and Amelia Caswell on bass clarinet. These students came together with other area middle school students to prepare and perform an evening concert at Central College directed by Brad Lampe, Director of Bands at Central College.
More recently, ADM Middle School band students participated in the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (SCIBA) honor band at Ankeny Centennial on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The eighth grade students were selected based on a performance audition held in October. These students had prepared their audition material for many months and we are excited to share that all auditioned students were accepted this year. These 8th graders included Ellie Longman (flute), Clara Uthe (clarinet), Amelia Caswell (bass clarinet), Braylon Whipps (trumpet), Brynn Schneider (trombone), Chase Cline (tuba), and Dawson Foster (percussion). There were also three seventh graders selected to participate at this honor band: Lily Fuller (trombone), Jake Noring (percussion), and Ashleigh Blum (alto saxophone).
Finally, we are excited to announce that 8th grader, Clara Uthe, has been selected to participate in the All Iowa 8th Grade Honor Band in May. At her audition in October, the judges determined she was the best clarinet player in the South Central district, and, therefore, selected to participate in this prestigious honor band in May. Congratulations to Clara for this well deserved award!
Congratulations to all of these students for not only these honors, but also because they represented ADM well at each event; showing respect for others and working hard to achieve the group goals in a full day rehearsal.
