This is my first year teaching and I am excited to be a part of the DeSoto Intermediate Staff. I will be teaching third grade this year. I recently graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, where I majored in Elementary Education and minored in Special Education. I am from Winterset, Iowa. I enjoy spending time with my three younger sisters, reading, working out and cooking.

After graduating high school from ADM, I attended Iowa Wesleyan College where I earned a BA in Elementary Education and a K-8 reading endorsement. I began my teaching career in Missouri and spent 7 years teaching Reading Recovery and Title I reading to K-4 students. In 2007, I joined the ADM team as a 1st grade/Title I teacher at Adel Elementary. I started teaching 3rd grade at DeSoto Intermediate in 2014. My husband (Mike) and I keep busy following our 4 daughters (Lexi, Brynna, Tori and Ella) and supporting them at various activities: soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball. In my free time I love spending time with my family, traveling, and running.

My hometown is Mishawaka, Indiana. I received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, and my master’s degree from Indiana University. My first years of teaching were in central Indiana. I have been with the ADM district since 2000. I have two grown children and four grandchildren. I love spending time with my family and going to my grandchildren’s events. I also enjoy walking, biking, gardening, traveling and reading.

I was raised in Earlham, Iowa. I’ve attended multiple colleges including Northwest Missouri State, Simpson, and DMACC. I graduated from Iowa State in December of 2016 after student-teaching here at DeSoto Intermediate. I have a degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Social Studies (K-8), and a coaching authorization. Graduating in December allowed me to gain experience as a long-term sub in other districts, before rejoining ADM as a full-time 3rd grade teacher in the Fall of 2017. When I am not teaching, you can usually find me coaching or watching sports. I also enjoy spending time with my younger brother and other family members.

After graduating high school in West Des Moines, I attended The University of Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!), where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Reading. I am starting my teaching career in third grade at DeSoto Intermediate this fall. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing with my dog, Bodie, and running.

I am originally from Johnston, IA, so I haven’t ventured far from home.  I attended the University of Northern Iowa where I received my degrees in elementary education and middle level education.  I began my career teaching 5th grade for ADM schools in 2014.  In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, Alex, participating and watching many different sports, and spending time with our families.  I am fortunate enough to have all three of my siblings in the Des Moines area with me!
