I grew up in Marion, Iowa and graduated from Linn Mar High School. I then attended The University of Iowa where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and Psychology with a minor in Sociology, along with a 5-12 Social Studies teaching certification. I earned my K-12 teaching endorsement in Talented and Gifted Education from the Belin-Blank Center in 2013. I am currently working on my Master’s Degree in education with an emphasis on reading. I have worked as a Talented and Gifted teacher for three years, and this will be my first year at ADM. I love getting to work with unique and creative students each year, and I am so excited to be a Tiger! In my free time I love to read, cook, and spend time outside with my husband Kevin and our chocolate lab Bear.

I am currently working on obtaining my Master’s Degree in Library Studies from University of Northern Iowa as well. I have previously taught 1st grade in the Waukee Community School District. I graduated from Simpson College in 2013 with a degree in Physical Education and Health.  I taught K-12 PE and K-8 Health at Walnut CSD from 2013-2014.  I began teaching PE at DeSoto Intermediate in 2014.  I am married with two children.  We enjoy a lot of activities as a family like camping, swimming, visiting zoos, Adventureland, and enjoying the outdoors!  It is rewarding for me to teach a variety of activities to our youth for them to identify what they enjoy in order to live a healthy active life!
