Proud to be an ADM Tiger!

After teaching in Chicago schools, I was thrilled to move back to central Iowa and join the ADM staff in 2001. For seven years I enjoyed being an ADM classroom teacher in second, third, and fifth grades. Being the principal at DeSoto Intermediate has been so rewarding, working with tremendously talented staff, supportive parents, and high-achieving students.

My husband, Nathan, and I spend most of our free time transporting our two children (Addison and Miller) to and from events. Watching movies or staying home to read a great novel are among two of my favorite ways to spend free time.

Living, working, and being a part of the ADM community has been a tremendously rewarding experience both professionally and personally.

After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 2003, I began my teaching career at ADM. For ten years I taught in both 1st and 2nd grade at Adel Elementary before pursuing a position s an Assistant Principal in the Waukee Community School District. I was fortunate enough to return to ADM the following year to serve both Adel Elementary and DeSoto Intermediate as an Assistant Principal.

My husband, Jeff, and I spend most of our free time cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and University of Northern Iowa Panthers. If I’m not at a sporting event, I enjoy reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

I am married to Kent and we have three grown sons.  Kent’s career with Kum and Go Stores has led us to living eleven years in Algona, Iowa, three years in Casper, Wyoming, and then in 2001 we moved to our acreage near Adel.  Being involved in our boys’ lives has been our favorite pastime since the moment they were born!  We have enjoyed church, scouts, sports, and school activities with them.  We now get to travel a lot to enjoy keeping up with them as our oldest son, Brad, and his wife, Megan (Mrs. Wiley’s daughter) are with the Air Force, Lane is at school in Lincoln, Nebraska and will be in Montana next school year, and Kyle is at Simpson College in Indianola.

I began at ADM Schools in the lunch program, serving students and washing the big pots and pans at the high school in the fall of 2001.  I began substituting as an associate in the fall of 2002.  When our youngest entered 6th grade the opportunity to move back towards a full-time position led me to accepting my current role as the DeSoto Administrative Assistant.  I love interacting with this age group and being able to witness their excitement in learning!  I enjoy helping create a positive environment for teachers, staff, and students, and feel as if each is my ‘customer’.   ADM Tigers are the best!  #gladtobeatiger!
