American History

Bio

I grew up on a farm near Crawfordsville, Iowa, and am an alumna of Winfield-Mt. Union School District.  After graduating high school, I attended Simpson College and earned a degree in history with a minor in secondary education. I began my teaching career at Norwalk High School, where I taught World History and American Government for five years. This is my second year at ADM, where I teach 8th grade American History.  In my free time I enjoy watching movies, checking out new restaurants and attending sporting events with my husband, Kirk.  We also love spending time with family and supporting our 13 nieces and nephews at their 4-H, sporting and music events.

Bio

Mr. Stanley has been teaching in the ADM school district since the 2006-07 school year. He teaches 8th grade literacy and is also an instructional coach in the middle school. A few of Mr. Stanley’s top goals as an educator are to provide students with choice in their learning based off of their personal interests, as well as, building lifelong positive relationships with students. On top of teaching at ADM, Mr. Stanley is also a high school football coach.

Mr. Stanley was born and raised in Earlham, Iowa and went on to graduate college from Upper Iowa University with an elementary education degree and reading endorsement. In his free time, Mr. Stanley enjoys watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and Florida Gators and loves to spend time outdoors with his friends and family: wife, Heather, daughters Larissa and Ella, and his son, Dempsey…especially at his favorite vacation spot, Siesta Key, Florida!

Literacy

Bio

I am originally from Ankeny where I graduated high school in 2010. I went on to the University of Iowa and graduated in 2014 with a degree in English Secondary Education. My first teaching job was in Cedar Rapids at Franklin Middle school where I was given the chance to teach seventh grade Literacy and Language Arts. Wanting to be closer to family, I moved back in the Des Moines area and got the opportunity to be a part of ADM! I enjoy reading, cheering on Hawkeye football and Cubs baseball, spending time with family and friends, and watching all different kinds of series on Netflix. I am excited to see what this new adventure has in store for me!

Bio

I grew up in Urbandale, Iowa and attended Johnston High School. I then attended UNI prior to beginning a career in sales and management at US Cellular. Through this experience I realized that I truly wanted to help young people achieve their potential through teaching. I then attended Upper Iowa University to earn my teaching degree before being offered the amazing opportunity to be a part of the 8th grade team. My wife, Kacie, is also in the education field as she teaches elementary physical education in Waukee. We keep busy trying to keep up with our three kids, Braylon, Kylie, and Blake (ages 6, 5, and 2). I love spending time with my family, playing golf, and working on projects around the house.
