Bio

I am originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and have been in the Des Moines area for the last seven years.  I graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and then taught in Northfield, Minnesota and La Crosse, Wisconsin before moving back to Iowa to teach at Southeast Polk High School.  I spent four years as a vocal director at SEPHS, directing two of the four curricular choirs, varsity show choir, voice lessons, and co-directed the musical.  At ADM, I teach the two high school choirs, two jazz choirs, AP Music Theory, and the 7th and 8th grade Boys Chorus, along with high school voice lessons.  My husband, Trevor, and I have a son, Rowan, and we are expecting a baby in the spring.

Technology, 6-8

Bio

I grew up in Eastern Iowa and graduated from Lisbon High School. Close relationships with teachers were the norm growing up in a small town and being in a small district. I attribute much of my passion for education to these experiences. I attended Truman State University in Kirksville, MO where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. From Truman I moved on to Drake in Des Moines where I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching. I am endorsed in Business and Math. I very much enjoy teaching computers because no two days are alike. The ever changing world of technology challenges me be a continuous learner and demands that my problem-solving skills continue to evolve. ADM blessed me with my first full-time position and I could not feel more at home than I do in these hallways!

I’m originally from Malvern, Iowa, and I graduated from Simpson College in 2009 with a bachelor of music in education. My husband and I lived in a suburb of Houston, Texas, for four years where I taught K-5 music before returning to our roots in Iowa. I am proud that I am now an ADM Tiger! I enjoy singing, spending time with my family, being in musical productions, running, weight lifting, and teaching group fitness classes at the Waukee YMCA. My husband and I have one son named Grayson.

Art

Bio

I am originally from a small town in Northern Iowa – Swea City.  I was lucky enough to have my father as my art teacher from kindergarten through high school.  I graduated from Iowa State University where I met my husband, Art, (yes, I loved art so much I married it). I have been teaching middle school art at Adel-De Soto-Minburn Middle School since 2006.  Art is my passion, and I love inspiring and fostering creativity in the students here at Adel. I currently live in West Des Moines with my husband and two active sons, ages 4 and 9, and a Manx cat, Bobbi. When I am not teaching, I love to run, do power yoga and barre classes,  read, shop, draw, and watercolor paint.  I also love football and spending time with my friends and family.

Physical Education – 6, 7, and 8

Bio

I am originally from Boyden, Iowa (a small town in the northwest corner of the state).  I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in teaching social studies, which I did here at ADM for 10 years starting in 2002.  I made the switch to teaching physical education in 2012 with a degree in exercise science from Simpson College.  I coach or have coached nearly every sport at ADM at either the high school or middle school level and continue to coach high school boys’ basketball.  I am also the head varsity baseball coach at Earlham.  I now am coaching many of the teams my kids play on.  My wife Amy, a second grade teacher in Waukee, and I have a son (Karson) and two daughters (Aubrey and Libby).  I hope to spend my entire career here at ADM and could not envision teaching anywhere else because of the fabulous and amazing students I get to interact with on a daily basis.
