The ADM Drama Department, under the direction of Mrs. Longman for the past eight seasons, strives to bring a wide variety of productions to the ADM community. Each year, the department has two productions: a fall show in mid-November and and a spring show in mid-April. Casting is done through open auditions of any 9th through 12th grader interested in participating. Set construction, lighting and sound operation, makeup, and costuming are also completed by student volunteers. What our audience sees on performance weekend is truly a student production. We are proud of the quality our shows, and grateful for the support of the ADM community that faithfully continues to fill the seats!
We are beginning the 2015-2016 season with a production of S.E. Hinton’s classic young adult novel The Outsiders adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel. The story follows Ponyboy, a young greaser who lives in a town where the ongoing war with the opposite social group, the soc’s, makes life seem unfair, even hopeless. Ponyboy and his two older brothers lost their parents, leaving them to navigate through high school and into adulthood on their own, supporting each other as best as they can. A rumble between the rival gangs ends in the death of a young man, and Ponyboy and his friends begin to wonder if all the fighting is more trouble than it’s worth.
Performances will be November 12th at 7:00 p.m., November 13th at 7:00 p.m., and November 14th at 2:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Tickets will be sold one hour before each performance in the high school commons. Student admission is $3, Adult admission is $5.
