For seventh grader Lucy Mallory, ADM is the right combination of academics and extracurricular activities. She loves social studies — particularly its history component — and the scary book offerings of her favorite author, Mary Downing Hahn.
For extracurricular activities, Lucy enjoys soccer, motocross with her dad, and the world of music, where she maintains the family tradition of laying down the beat. “I want to be a musician. I do band and play the piano; that’s my favorite part of the day, band and percussion. I want to be in a symphony. That would be fun. My uncle is a really cool musician, and he’s in a band. My cousin is just graduating this year, and he’s going on to be a percussionist in the Army. He’s really good at it, so I want to be a musician too.”
Lucy came to ADM in second grade from a larger school. “You know a lot of people here, and it’s not so big, so you know most people in town.”
