I have worked in the educational technology field for over 10 years, having served as director of technology or in other educational and information technology roles at Carlisle and Drake University. In 2010, I earned a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus on Executive Leadership, the curriculum focused on utilization of human resources, change management and finance and accounting in the public sector and non-profit organizations.
In my free time, I volunteer as a coach and board member with the Carlisle Little League. I enjoy spending time with my family watching sports, doing home improvement projects and I also umpire high school baseball. I enjoy following our local sports team especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. I live in Carlisle with my wife, Carrie, and our two sons Blake and Tyler.
Student Data Coordinator
M.A., Computing in Education, Teacher’s College, Columbia University
B.A., Elementary Education, Iowa State University
3rd – 5th Grade Technology Teacher, ADM Schools, 2005-2014
5th Grade Teacher, Adam’s Elementary (Des Moines), 1998-2005
I have been at ADM since 2005, shortly after receiving my master’s degree in Computing in Education. I started as the 3rd-5th grade technology teacher and served both DeSoto and Minburn buildings. As a technology teacher, my goal was to promote the effective use of technology with students while making it fun as well as educational.
The classroom teacher position was not full-time which allowed the district to add the duties of a part time coordinator for the student information system. Over the years, this position has grown tremendously in it’s scope and responsibilities. Not only do I manage the student information system, but I also coordinate state and federal reporting of student information, provide training for staff members, am the liaison between the district and our SIS support company, and attend meetings virtually and in person to stay current on software features. I also work with other district departments such as Transportation and Food Service to integrate the use of third party software, and much more. It is for this reason that for 2014-15, I left the classroom in order to focus solely on my responsibilities as the district’s Student Data Coordinator.
I have also served on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Technology and Education Connection (ITEC), a state-wide technology and education organization. I’m a huge fan of ISU Women’s basketball, and I enjoy golfing, reading, and playing with my kids. I live in Grimes with my husband and two children.
