Really Great Reading is a phonemic awareness/phonics program focused on developing foundational skills that will strengthen decoding and fluency within text. Preschool through First Grade students at Adel Elementary are engaged in this learning, daily.
Along with the whole group lessons, the program came out with a play-based digital platform called the Reading Playground that we use for students in Kindergarten and First Grade. The purpose of the Reading Playground is to give students the opportunity to show their understanding of previously taught concepts and help master their phonics skills through research-aligned activities.
During conferences, parents were given a communication letter explaining how students can get on the Reading Playground at home. We encourage parents to have their child get on at home, so they can share all the great things they are learning.
