The Dallas County Foundation awarded Adel Elementary funds during the spring of 2021 to add a Storybook Walk to the existing walking trail to extend literacy, promote healthy choices, and encourage social skills while children are at recess. During the summer, multiple plexiglass sign posts were added along the trail that hold individual pages of a book. As the children enjoy walking along the trail, they will have the chance to read the pages of the text or tell the story through the illustrations independently or with a peer. On a regular basis new stories will be added to maintain engagement with the storybook walk. Thank you, Dallas County Foundation for supporting Adel Elementary Tigers!
