Adel Elementary kindergarten students have been busy strengthening their number sense awareness by engaging with counting collections. Counting collections provide students a structured opportunity to count various quantities of objects, developing the concepts of one to one correspondence, skip counting, estimation, and subitizing.  The kindergarteners pictured are working in pairs to count their objects by ones or tens; after they arrive at the sum, they work together to create a visual and numerical representation of their quantity.  This engaging math activity lays the foundation for many kindergarten math standards to come!
