ADM Families,

What: Starting September 15th, 2020 all currently enrolled Adel DeSoto Minburn School District students will be able to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost to them. This will apply to all ADM students, whether learning fully onsite or fully remote through December 31, 2020 or until the current federal funding runs out, at which time ADM will shift back to the paid meal program.  Please note: At this time remote learning students do not have the option to receive breakfast and will continue to order lunch using the same process that has been in place since the start of the year.

Why: Last week, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will extend several flexibilities through December 31, 2020. The flexibilities allow summer meal program operators to continue serving free meals to all children into the fall/winter months.

Details: All families are encouraged to take advantage and participate in breakfast and lunch this fall. Meals will be provided at no cost to the family. Families do not need to enroll or take any action, as meals will simply be free through December 31, 2020 or until federal funding runs out. This opportunity gives every family the chance to feel a sense of financial relief while also having the security of their student(s) being fed.

Please Note: All extra purchases like; Snack Milk, A La Carte, & Extras will still be available to students, but must be purchased through the Student’s meal account. Current lunch status benefits will not apply to any extras and students must have a positive balance to purchase them. This will also apply to those who have elected to do virtual learning.

    • Please be sure to communicate with your student(s) your restrictions and expectations with A La Carte, Snack Milk, & Extras, as those items will still be charged to the student meal account and if not monitored, can deplete the account quickly.
    • Parents can monitor student lunch account balances through Infinite Campus, and can contact me at 515-993-3431 or jbrand@admschools.org if they would like to restrict extra purchases on a student’s account.

Meal Account Notices: Meal account notices, regardless of the newly extended benefits, will continue to be sent home weekly depending on the student account balance.

Please contact me at 515-993-3431 or jbrand@admschools.org if you have any questions or concerns with your student(s) meal account.

Sincerely,

Jason Brand
