Families and Students of the Class of 2020,
Today we are excited to share ADM’s updated plan for the class of 2020 commencement ceremony! These plans represent a change in date, time, and location from our previous plans communicated in early May. Please read below for important information:
ADM 2020 Commencement:
- Date: June 27, 2020
- Time: 9:00 a.m.
- Location: ADM Stadium, 801 Nile Kinnick Dr. Adel, IA
- Format: Outdoor ceremony at ADM Stadium for invited guests only
- Tickets: Attendance will be limited to 6 tickets per family unit of a 2020 graduate
- Live Stream: ADM will provide a live stream of the commencement ceremony
- Rain Date: In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held at ADM Stadium on June 28 at 9:00 a.m.
Rationale For The Change:
- Why not hold the ceremony indoors? Following health guidelines, ADM has determined that the capacity limits of the North Gym will not allow for adequate social distancing without significantly limiting the number of family members that can attend an indoor ceremony. At this time it only appears feasible to hold a traditional ceremony outdoors.
- Why not wait until July? ADM has received feedback indicating that families would prefer to have the commencement ceremony completed in June. Additionally, we are not confident that conditions and health guidance will change by July to allow the commencement ceremony to be held indoors.
- Why not hold commencement on Sunday, June 28? Holding the ceremony on Saturday, June 27 allows ADM to hold a rain date on Sunday, June 28 in the event of inclement weather.
It is extremely important to celebrate our seniors in a way that highlights their individual and group accomplishments and we believe that an outdoor ceremony provides the best opportunity for one last celebration at ADM High School! We believe this is what our seniors deserve and it is our first priority to provide this experience for them.
