On Saturday, February 15, the 7th and 8th grade bands traveled to Norwalk for the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (SCIBA) Middle School Large Group Contest. This event provides middle school bands with an opportunity to be given a rating and work with a clinician. The 8th graders performed at 12:30 PM and earned a Division I (Superior) rating. The clinician was very impressed with their tone quality and energy on stage. The 7th grade band performed at 1:30 PM and also earned a Division I (Superior) rating. It was a great first time experience and outcome for the 7th grade band students. Both bands will perform their selections at the upcoming Parade of Bands concert in the North Gym on Tuesday, March 3 at 7:00 PM.

In order to take time to celebrate the students’ hard work, both bands travelled to Jordan Creek Mall for a couple of hours after the performance to enjoy lunch, friends, and ice cream. The middle school students represented the communities of the ADM school district by displaying great character and responsibility at the mall. It was a great day had by all!
