Adel Elementary hosted the 1st Annual Tigers in Training 1K on Friday, September 25th. The afternoon event gave the students the opportunity to enjoy being physically active while also interacting with family members, community members and high school students. The high school band performed near the finish line while cross country runners ran alongside the students and cheerleaders kept the encouragement flowing. The goal of this event was to improve the health of Adel Elementary students while promoting the benefits of social interaction during recess by raising money to install a new play structure and a walking trail on the playground. We recognize that both of these projects have a hefty price tag but our plan is to create an annual opportunity to raise money toward our goal.
A huge thank you to the leadership team that supported all aspects of preparing for the event in addition to talking with local businesses and civic groups to sponsor the event. The efforts of this group along with the efforts of all students at Adel Elementary raised $43,000 toward our goal.
